How cute is this little guy!

This little bat was found on the side of a building, just a few inches off the ground.  He wasn’t sick or injured, just COLD!  When bats get cold they can’t fly, so must “camp out” until they can warm up in the sun.  (Or in his case, in a cozy heated box.)  Once warmed, he was good to go and on his way to eating thousands of mosquitoes later that night!

Strange behavior?

We received a call for a “rabbit acting strangely”.  The reporting party said it was “not running away, and just too friendly.”  When we got there, we realized why….  The color was correct for a native cotton tail rabbit, but the ears were all wrong!  This is someone’s domestic lop rabbit, either lost or abandoned.  Abscess on neck will be treated then, if we can’t find owner, we’ll place in a great new forever home.  Just another day in the live of a rehabber!

Lop Rabbit

Not exactly a wild bunny!

Our first Otter!

Injured River Otter

We found this little girl with so much crud encrusted on her face, her eyes were stuck shut, impeding her hunting.  Clean up revealed many infected wounds, probably from a dog attack.  After clean up and some antibiotics, she was returned to her den on the river bank, one happy otter!
