Spring is here!

Spring is upon us and with it, many baby birds will be falling from their nests or orphaned.  Please resist the temptation to “share raising a baby with the kids”!  Baby birds are not easy.  They require specific diets based on their species, eat every 15 minutes from sunrise to sunset, and need specialized training once flighted, to learn how to be whatever species they are.  Most babies can simply be put back into their nest or put into a “surrogate” nest where mom will feed and care for it until it is ready to fly.  Please call us at 541-891-2052 if  you find a baby bird!SAMSUNG

WE NEED YOUR HELP ON FRIDAY, APRIL 19th!!!

SAMSUNG

Hi All!

On Friday, April 19th, Jon Schnebly (the guy who drives the BIG tractor on our “construction days” and who is responsible for BRWR getting our tractor) will be at BRWR at 9 am with his BULLDOZER to help us flatten this place out, create paths for volunteers to use and to make more areas accessible to our tractor and RTV for snow removal, maintenance, etc.  At 9 am we really need someone who has experience with big equipment and earth moving to be a “spotter” for Jon who will be driving the ‘dozer.  Throughout the day, we will need people to help with moving rocks, clean up, maybe driving the BRWR tractor or RTV to help move debris, etc.  I’m putting a list together for Jon of who/what his help will be.  PLEASE let me know ASAP if you can help, and please SHARE this message with ANYONE whom you think might be able to help or who might know someone who can.  If we can get a good crew going, we should be able to knock this out in one day!  If anyone has contacts with ROTC, Scouts, or any “strong, young muscle” please contact them and see if they are available to help.  We have a lot of dirt and rocks to move to make BRWR more accessible for the public and for volunteers!
You can email Liz at [email protected] or call 541-891-2052.
Thank you!

YAY! Release!!

Great release today of a young male Great Horned Owl near Tulelake Wildlife Refuge today!  He came to us a few weeks ago with a cut eye and some head trauma.  Thanks to Dr. Tawnia Shaw, his eye is well healed, he even seems to have partial sight in it, despite the nasty cut he had when he came in.   Glad to see the little guy fly off so well!
