Murphy – European Starling (Sturnus vulgaris)

“Murphy” is a male European Starling that came to Badger Run as a nestling in early 2025. While Starlings are a non-native, invasive species in the U.S. and cannot be rehabbed and released, we do typically keep one or two as educational ambassadors. In Oregon, they are legal to keep as pets. Starlings are amazing mimics, especially the males. Murphy gives us a chance to talk to folks about invasive species and their impacts.
