Chery Crawford was born in Michigan, but lived many years in Texas before moving to Ashland, Oregon in 2018. While in Texas she discovered her passion for owls after installing a nest box in her backyard. A pair of Eastern Screech owls took up residence and she was hooked. She was fascinated watching them return each year and raise their owlets. When she discovered an injured female owl in her backyard she reached out to her local raptor rehab, Blackland Prairie Raptor Center. She was so touched by their kindness in caring for “her owl” that she immediately began volunteering with them. While there, she learned wildlife rehab practices, but found her true passion working with the education ambassador birds. After moving to Oregon, she further honed her bird handling and presentation skills at Wildlife Images. In 2024 she made Badger Run her volunteer home where she continues to feed her love of owls and share her knowledge with anyone who is willing to listen.
