Piglet - Common Raven
(Corvus corax)
“Piglet” is a Common Raven that was admitted to Badger Run in Spring of 2025. His parents had unfortunately built their nest in an airport hangar which was under renovation. Large birds are frowned upon at airports, plus the nest was impeding the renovations. Having a depredation permit, the airport called Badger Run to remove the four nestlings which included Piglet and his three siblings. We were able to raise all four Ravens for release. Since there was no home territory take them back to for release (the airport did not want them back), we received permission from ODFW to release them on site at Badger Run. Unlike his three siblings, Piglet did not thrive being a “wild” Raven after release. He doesn’t fly well and appears to have some neurological issues. It became clear after a few weeks that Piglet was not going to survive as a wild Raven and we brought him back into care adding him to our education team.
