Born and raised in the Lake Tahoe region of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, I am no stranger to wildlife. While on my first hunting expedition, at the age of 16, I decided I would rather help save wildlife than kill it. Close encounters through the years with great horned owls, deer, moose, wolf, cougar, dolphin and monk seal helped lead me to my second vocation. While vacationing in Kauai in 1982, I saw my first full-body breach by a humpback whale and I have been studying these magnificent creatures ever since.
After our retirement in 2000 from the nuclear power industry, my husband and I moved to the Klamath Basin and, eventually, to Keno where wildlife abounds. It was only natural for us to gravitate to Badger Run Wildlife Rehab as volunteers. It is now my pleasure to present our animal ambassadors at educational programs, help with the tons of administrative work, pick up and transport injured or orphaned wildlife and assist in fund raising efforts.
