Harry - European Starling
(Sturnus vulgaris)
“Harry” is a European Starling. These birds are not native to North America, but were brought in to the East coast many years ago. Starlings are highly intelligent and adaptive, and they have bred rapidly, expanding across the country. A very aggressive bird, they often take over other bird’s nests and are driving out many native species, such as bluebirds. For this reason, we do not rehabilitate and release Starlings. Being extremely smart and curious, it is a challenge to keep Harry occupied in his enclosure!
